Sobre a publicação

A scopio Magazine, uma publicação periódica anual cuja responsabilidade editorial é do grupo de investigação CCRE pertencente ao Centro de Estudos de Arquitecura e Urbanismo (CEAU) da FAUP, é o suporte de divulgação e investigação ligado em termos gerais à Arquitectura, Arte e Imagem (AAI) e, em termos específicos, à Fotografia Documental e Artística relacionada com Arquitectura, Cidade e Território. A publicação desenvolve-se através de ciclos temáticos e tem como propósito divulgar diversos autores e trabalhos na área da Fotografia Documental e Artística que de alguma forma promovam uma reflexão sobre o contributo das imagens na compreensão da realidade e na construção de imaginários, entre o documento e a ficção, entre a reprodução e a manipulação, entre o analógico e o digital.  O universo da Arquitectura é, assim, entendido de uma forma abrangente como uma prática e disciplina capaz de integrar os domínios sócio - económico, político, histórico e técnico. Por outro lado, interessam-nos trabalhos onde a imagem fotográfica é principalmente utilizada como um instrumento de investigação que permite descobrir novas perspectivas sobre a arquitectura e suas vivências.   A scopio Magazine serve também para o envolvimento de sectores académicos, culturais e sociais em concepções e práticas dotadas de poder de inovação relativas à cidade, nas suas múltiplas vertentes, com especial destaque para as que utilizam a fotografia e a imagem como instrumentos críticos do território. Crossing Borders e Shifting Boundaries, Cidade é o tema principal e categoria do ciclo atual da scopio Magazine que focaliza o seu interesse em países diversos, questionando como é que a arquitetura se transforma, como reflete diferentes identidades culturais híbridas em muitos países e como tudo isso interage e afeta as nossas cidades e paisagem, considerando as categorias mencionadas: Arquitetura , Cidade e Território.

About the publication 

scopio Magazine is a publication with an editorial strategy that is able to integrate different perspectives about Photography, Architecture and Art from academic researchers and creators from non-academic institutions and groups. This inclusive approach gives voice to young artists and independent groups with interest in these territories through partnerships and other collaborative methods. It is our belief that, in this way, we strengthen the link between university and society, with a particular interest on interdisciplinary knowledge transfer in the fields of arts and architecture.

We are inter­ested in a high level of critical analysis with a focus directed on the relations between artistic and documentary photography as an instrument to question Architecture, City and Territory. In other words, in relation to the role of images and public imaginaries, as well as to the investigation of how different types of images build diverse worlds: between fiction and documen­tary, reproduction and manipulation, or analogue and digital. This means, among other, understanding architecture as a broad subject and practice that is interested in, on the one hand, the real space and its experiences, exploring new spatial forms and architectural codes and, on the other hand, in how architecture operates within larger systems: socio-cultural, technical, and historical systems.

The Editorial and Advisory Board of scopio Magazine integrates researchers coming from the research group Architecture, Art and Image – aai – based at the research center in the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) and other creators from diverse countries and non-academic groups with an interest in photography and arts.

scopio Magazine also attends to the involvement of diverse academic, cultural and social sectors in concepts and practices endowed with the strength of innovation for the city, in its multiple aspects, with a special emphasis on those that show a significant use of photography in the critical analysis of the territory.
