U. PORTO ALUMNI LITTLE BOOKS is the name of the new collection that U.Porto Press and Scopio Editions jointly launch. The collection aims to give visibility to the research developed by alumni of the University of Porto in the context of their Master's dissertations. The format is that of a paperback book.
The first "small books", from the series Architecture, Art and Utopia, with a maximum of 40 A5 pages and a strong visual component, result from a joint initiative of the research group Architecture, Art and Image (AAI) integrated in the Center for Architectural and Urban Studies (CEAU) of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) and the Centre for English, Translation, and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS) of the Faculty Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP). The books, awarding a selection of MA essays assessed with a classification equal to or higher than 18 points, are launched under the theme "Architecture, Art and Utopia" and fall within the scientific area of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
The collection will soon launch new books in the scientific areas of Natural and Health Sciences and Exact Sciences and Technologies. The works will be placed in the libraries of the Faculties and it is expected that they will serve as a motto for multiple acts of reflection, such as lectures and debates around the themes developed and linked to integrative pedagogical strategies, stimulating in the students of the 2nd study cycle the interest for scientific research.
